A Guided, Synchronous Professional Learning Experience
A hands-on professional learning experience for faculty, instructional designers, trainers, and others who want to design thoughtful, practical AI-supported learning around authentic learner needs.
The AIMON Learning Design Studio is offered primarily as a synchronous design experience, combining live facilitated sessions, structured design activities, peer feedback, shared resources, and an optional individual consultation. Participants bring a real course, assignment, workshop, or other learning context and work through the AIMON design process with support from colleagues and the facilitator.
Workshop sessions are scheduled for November 30, 2026, and December 2, 2026, from 8:00 am - 9:30 am PT each day. An optional one-one 30 minute consulation can be scheduled after session 3 as part of the workshop.
Note: If you'd like to arrange custom dates and times for a group of five or more, contact us.
Group discounts are also available: Use the code HYFLEX15 for a 15% discount on orders of 5 or more, or use the code HYFLEX25 for a 25% discount on orders of 10 or more.
Note: The approaches explored in the Studio work well for courses and learning experiences delivered in any mode, not just HyFlex.
About the Experience
AI creates new possibilities for providing learners with timely explanation, practice, feedback, reflection, and problem-solving support. The challenge is deciding where that support is actually needed, whether AI is appropriate, and what parts of the learning process should remain with the learner and with other people.
The AIMON Learning Design Studio helps participants move from a broad interest in AI to a specific, reasoned learning-support design. Rather than beginning with a tool or platform, participants begin with an authentic learning context and ask:
Where do learners need support, and what form of support fits that moment?
Using the AIMON: AI in the Moment of Learning Need framework, participants identify a meaningful moment of learner need, examine current support, consider AI alongside human and non-AI alternatives, and develop an initial design that preserves learner thinking, agency, access, and human connection.
The Studio combines short introductions to the framework with individual design work, small-group consultation, peer feedback, and continuing resources. Participants also have optional access to the AIMON Design Partner, a custom GPT developed to support the design-thinking process without making design decisions for them.
The goal is not more AI. The goal is better learning support at the right moment.
By the end of the Studio, participants will:
- Identify a meaningful moment of learner need and describe what effective support should help learners accomplish without replacing the thinking, practice, or judgment that produces learning.
- Evaluate whether AI is an appropriate form of support and develop a practical design that may combine AI, instructor, peer, and non-AI resources.
- Create an initial AIMON Design Sketch and implementation direction with clear roles, boundaries, and a manageable next step that can be tested or refined in practice.
Participants who complete the Studio activities receive one HyFlex Learning Community certificate of completion: Designing AI Support at the Moment of Learning Need.
